Since its beginning in 1948, Tatum Music has always had music education as our top priority. To do that one has to have been a successful music educator. Tatum Music’s salesmen and owners have been and still are highly qualified music educators first. Alto Tatum, the company’s founder, is a member of the Texas Band Directors’ Hall of Fame. Neil Grant, his successor, is also a member of the Texas Band Directors’ Hall of Fame and the Stephen F. Austin State University band director’s hall of fame. Current owner Doice Grant, following in their tradition, will be inducted into the Stephen F. Austin State University band director’s hall of fame on Sunday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the annual SFA bands outdoor concert.
